<p>Minecraft maker reveals new 'hard science-fiction game </p> <p>April 2012 </p> <p>The first details of his upcoming project have been revealed by the creator of Minecraft the well-known video game. </p> <p>Markus "Notch” Persson said that the game was tentatively called 0x10c and space-themed. It takes place in the distant future. </p> <p>In contrast to Minecraft, users are "likely" to be charged a monthly fee to take part in multiplayer games. </p> <p>Despite the fact that Minecraft does not have a third-party publisher or marketing campaign, close to five and a half million copies have been sold. </p> <p>The development company run by Mr Persson, Mojang, managed to build strong word-of-mouth appeal by releasing the game in the early stages and letting the public decide the direction of development. </p> <p>Mr Persson said he planned an identical strategy for the 0x10c. </p> <p>Ancient universe </p> <p>He explained that the storyline was about a group of humans who were accidentally put in a state of deep sleep for an extended period of time in 1988 and woken up more than 281 trillion years later. </p> <p>The universe is described by users as being "on the edge of dying", and they participate in space battles, trading, looting and planet mining operations. </p> <p>Mr Persson declared that he had planned for the title to follow therules of "hard science fiction". </p> <p>He wrote, "I will try and ensure that the science behind the game is real and has a plausible theoretical basis." </p> <p>"As as few as is possible, with the rest being clearly explained. If you're an expert in a field that I've made a mistake on, PLEASE let me know!" </p> <p>Computers in games </p> <p>Minecraft's appeal is built on the ability to alter the environment in which a character lives. However, 0x10c allows players to program an emulated 16-bit computer processor unit that "powers" their spaceship. https://886.lv/ </p> <p>Mr. Persson said users would be able to develop their own operating systems for the CPU, and after enough user-generated software has been created, people could use it "like ordinary computers" to run other games or perform other functions. </p> <p>He also warned that he could not stop viruses. The players will have to do it themselves. </p> <p>Industry observers expect the news to bring plenty of excitement. </p> <p>"Everybody has been waiting to see what "Notch" and Mojang will do next, as Minecraft was so successful and different," said Nathan Brown, online editor of the Edge, a gaming magazine. It's interesting to note that this forward-thinking studio is contemplating charging a monthly subscription.
