Like Minecraft Dungeons, Legends is creating new mobs for Minecraft.

Minecraft Legends creative director Magnus Nedfors and executive producer Dennis Ries sat down during the Xbox booth livestream at Gamescom this week to share a couple new details about Legends, including info about new mobs, both friend and foe. Mojang Interactive and Blackbird Interactive are launching a new RTS spinoff that will be a major hit in the Minecraft world, as with previous genre experiments. Dungeons has stepped outside the bounds of existing Minecraft legends to create mobs needed to be suited to its action RPG setting and Legends is following suit.

The biggest baddies in Minecraft Legends are the familiar Nether inhabitants, also known as the Piglins. This was revealed in the first trailer. While we're used to Piglins and Hoglins in Vanilla Minecraft, Legends is adding a "Pigmadillo," which crouches down into a cube, and contrary to what you'd think in light of the physics of a cube, offensively rolls towards what it's aiming at. Ries also points out that there are "Bruisers", which have two razor blades. Bit horror-esque, innit? Both new mobs make an appearance in the brand new trailer that Mojang presented.

Over on the friendly side two kinds of golem will join your army The Cobblestone Golem, who is apparently great for taking down enemy structures, and what it sounds like Ries calls a "Plank Golem" which is an armed unit that can be ranged. They also refer to something called speed wheat and an specialized type of mushroom designed to jump high, which you can use to get across the world and unlock new areas in Legends.

Minecraft Dungeons, for its part, also introduced new mobs, such as the Iceologers and Mountaineers. The Minecraft Live 2020 fan vote to select which mob to include in Vanilla Minecraft to Vanilla Minecraft included the Iceologers. They lost to Glow Squid, however I wouldn't be surprised to see one of these new Legends baddies given the same chance at Vanilla Minecraft fame.

In case you didn't notice that there's badgers in the trailer too. https://wikimedia.org.ph/ Project Badger was the codename for Minecraft Legends before it was made public, which could be all that's a hint to. However, perhaps it'll make it to mob status in the future too.
