p>Minecraft developer Mojang Studios is taking a firm stance against NFTs. In a blog entry titled "Minecraft and NFTs," the studio, which is owned by Microsoft wrote that "integrations of NFTs with Minecraft are not something we will accept or support."

p>Mojang has stated that blockchain technology isn't allowed to be integrated into our client and server apps. "To ensure that Minecraft players enjoy a safe, inclusive experience, neither can Minecraft in-game content like skins, worlds, or other items be utilized by blockchain technology to create an exclusive digital asset."

p>According to Mojang the studio, some companies have created "NFT implementations that are associated with Minecraft world skin packs and files." The studio suggests that there could theoretically be Minecraft "collectible" NFTs or that players can earn NFTs by doing things in Minecraft on a server or earning them outside of the game.

p>Mojang believes that these practices create digital scarcity and exclusion, which goes against the principles of Minecraft. p>Valve has also taken a the hard line against blockchain-based games as well as NFTs on Steam and a large portion of gamers have opposed NFTs as well, and Ubisoft discontinuing the production of NFTs for Ghost Recon Breakpoint just a few months after having launched the initiative. Epic Games stated last year that it was "open" to blockchain-based games on Epic Games Store. The store launched its first blockchain-based game in June.

p>Mojang does not completely exclude the possibility of incorporating blockchain technology in the near future. However, it does state that it has no plans to implement blockchain technology in Minecraft currently.
