p>Not content with a mere billion, Minecraft starts racking up more sales this week as it launches as a downloadable game for Xbox One - and perhaps PS4 too. Mojang's sandbox video game will be available on September 5, 2015. 360 owners can upgrade to the Xbox One for $5/PS4. Microsoft notes that this upgrade is available regardless of whether you have a disc or a download copy. Otherwise, the full price version is $20/PS16.

p>While the PS4 date is not known Mojang's Daniel Kaplan tweeted that "Sony friends" can expect an "Minecraft surprise in the near future... or perhaps sooner?!" The teaser was followed by a PlayStation? France tweet that claimed the PS4 version will be available today, but as of now no other Sony channels have confirmed this. As soon as someone digs out a date for a release for the PS4 version we'll let you know.

p>In the case of the Vita version, it look unlikely to launch this week. Last week porting team 4J Studios said it had "more work to do" before submitting the Vita version to Sony for certification.

p>The latest versions of Minecraft include worlds that are 36 times bigger than their predecessors from the previous generation, as well as longer draw distances. PS3 and Xbox 360 owners have the option of importing their Minecraft worlds into the Xbox One and PS4 versions, respectively.

p>This announcement comes at the same time that Mojang released Minecraft1.8 on PC. It's the update that's been in development for the longest at the Swedish studio for 300 days. It's not surprising that it's quite large, with a host of new features which you can read about here. Highlights include new Guardian or Endermite mobs, balanced by the introduction - 'd’awww rabbits.
