p>The Warner Bros. Minecraft movie has been given a new director... again. Variety reports that Peter Sollett has been hired to direct and write the long-awaited film. The film was initially directed by Rob McElhenney? (It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia) however, he left the project in August. He was replacing Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum), who quit in 2014.

p>Sollett directed 2002's Raising Victor Vargas and 2008's Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. He's also received acclaim for his work on the short film Five Feet High and Rising. Minecraft's original developer Mojang is believed to be on board to produce.

p>Warner Bros. scored the rights to the Minecraft film back in 2014, and the issue is now whether Minecraft is still able to attract the audience it could have years ago. While it's not known when the movie will be released, there's an opportunity that it could happen be released, and with a new director.
